ZOROBABEL~ Rest~
Good day my friends!!! Wow! Been a while since I have said Hello to YOU! So much has been happening, so many challenging changes but also a great New Learning curve as well! I am so happy to say I am learning tons lately and really looking forward to my tunes ahead!
That said, I realize I have wanted to share with you my album I made in 2004, Zorobabel. This album seems so relavent for today and so I want to share my thoughts with you as we were recording this album.
REST~ the first song on the album is taken from a really rocky time in my life. Everything was changing, life was unpredicatable and unsettled. I had so much pain to go through at that time on my musical journey.
I often would get up in the wee, dark hours of the night and write my songs. Some came all at once, some the chords first but mostly all together. Rest was like that.
Lyrics~ “You know, you know, I was always the clown,
Poured heart, on your alter, see the blue rose, yeah,
See now, see now the nails in His hands,
I have found my place of rest….”
And on the song goes.
Drummer, Scott Matthews and Jon Tanis on guitar, I played my acoustic guitar,
and we all recorded this album locally. We had to use the studio starting into the late hours of the night as the upstairs was a store in the day-time.
I wrote this song with one place where I use one chord. I wonder if you can find it!
It’s the only moment in the song…..
The idea of Rest~ is so elusive in ways and yet what I am sharing here is that Rest is a state of mind.
It’s the absence of striving, or achieving, it is a state of trust. A place of peace, rest.
Listen to the ‘rest’ (pun intended…!) of my lyrics for this song and
let me know what you think! And find this album here on my website!!
So much love to You!
May You have a beautiful day…..!
Rachel 🙂
